Kyle Ventler is flying out of the Seattle area, flying construction sites to capture progression footage. He has been taking standard photos and videos of construction sites, and has now come up with a new technique to count anchor bolts at construction sites. He’s developed this technique based on a drone mapping combination of Drone Deploy and Agremo. Yes, Agremo is marketed as an agricultural product, however Kyle has found a way to utilize it in his construction drone work. Very cool and innovative!
In addition to construction progress, Kyle has also worked with Disney Cruise Line on a project to capture one of their luxury yacht tours. This wasn’t a paying job, however the opportunity and exposure is something that Kyle has definitely been able to take advantage of.
If you struggle with sun glare on your tablet or phone, the Hoodman Sunshade that Kyle mentions may be for you. This is a high quality sunshade that allows you to shield your display and face from the sun, and be able to see everything at it’s true brightness and colour tone. Check it out at the link above as it appears they are currently even cheaper than Kyle mentioned during the show.
We also discuss how to determine obstacle height with your drone. Kyle mentions an incident he had in the past involving a crane on a construction site, and this little technique that I’ve developed is a great one to practice and utilize on the job site to ensure you don’t have the same problem!
