Houston Brown Luxury Real Estate Drone PilotHouston Brown is a luxury real estate photographer and drone pilot, who has carved out a niche shooting multimillion dollar ranches in the Dallas area. He started off as a ground based photographer, and branched out into drones once realtors started expecting aerials added to their marketing materials. In addition to just shooting luxury real estate, Houston is marketing himself as a luxury photographer.

How do you market yourself as a luxury real estate drone photographer? Well, he starts by providing premiere services to his clients, and spending upwards of 2 or 3 days at each property. Yeah, you read that right! He isn’t spending a few hours there, he is spending multiple days from sunrise to sunset to ensure that he captures everything in the best light. When properties are selling in excess of $20,000,000, this kind of effort is definitely appreciated by the realtors and their clients.

I asked Houston if he has heard of any specific sale that was driven by his photo and video productions, but he didn’t have a concrete example to refer to. What he did have though, was examples of other realtors commenting to his realtor client that the work was excellent. In my mind, that is HUGE, as when other realtors are noticing his work they are definitely going to have that certain property at front of mind and bring their clients to see it. It also helps Houston, as those other realtors are going to call him next when they have a luxury ranch listing! Thats a nice cycle for all involved!

Something new that I learned about during this interview was Houston’s mention of Frame.io. Rather than rendering and uploading all revisions of his edits to his clients, he us utilizing Frame.io to collaborate with them and cut down on total time spent editing. It looks like this service works with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, & Final Cut Pro. What a great idea! In addition to Frame, he also mentioned utilizing Capsule CRM to keep track of client outreach and communications. It’s free, and definitely worth a look if you’re wanting a way to keep track of your clients and all communications.
