One of the coolest features of the new DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone is “Dolly Zoom.” You’ve probably seen this effect in a few movies, such as Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, and now you can easily pull it off yourself with your drone! Let’s take a quick look at what our friend Keith Perry at Hudson Valley Drones has created with this technique.
DJI Dolly Zoom Example
Isn’t that awesome? It’s an extremely cool effect that is now very easy to pull off with your DJI Mavic 2 Zoom. Here’s how:
DJI Mavic 2 Zoom Dolly Effect How-To
1. Fly the drone to the location you want to start from.
2. Tap on the controller icon on the left side of the screen within DJI Go 4.
3. Tap on “Timelapse”
4. Tap on “Dolly Zoom”
5. Using your finger you can draw a box around yourself, or whatever subject you’d like to be the focus of the dolly zoom.
6. Tap “Go” and the drone will do all the rest of the work for you!
This simple technique is going to really open up the creativeness of drone pilots from around the world. We’re just starting to see the first glimpses of what drone Dolly Zoom can do, and I look forward to checking out everyones creativity as time goes on. Keep them coming!
